Our local economy provides the foundation to a fiscally strong city. Through the jobs our business provide and the taxes we all pay, we need to ensure the City is delivering the right level of service and that the City is getting the best value for money. That is why I support the Municipal Auditor General, we can learn from others and deliver the same services more effectively is a good thing. We need to work with the Provincial Government to develop a new formula for how municipalities are funded, the current model of Property Tax is not effective, our property taxes are maxed out and we need to look to new ways to fund municipalities, there are many examples from around the world. Finally, we need to develop an Economic Strategic Plan that will direct the city on how best to promote Port Coquitlam.

  • Hold the line on property taxes by finding new revenue sources
  • Support local business areas through pedestrian-friendly streetscapes and pedestrian connections
  • Maximize funding opportunities from other levels of government
  • Develop an Economic Strategic Plan to support and develop business and industrial areas
  • Implement financial policies to ensure ongoing renewal and replacement of infrastructure
  • Explore innovative service delivery and partnership opportunities to reduce funding pressures
