Port Coquitlam is Recognized for Civic Engagement
The City of Port Coquitlam has been awarded the Best Practices Civic Engagement Award at the Union of BC Municipalities’ annual Community Excellence Awards ceremony.
The awards showcased BC municipalities and regional districts that lead the pack, take risks to innovate, establish new partnerships, question established ways of doing business, and pioneer new customer service practices. I am proud of our work to reach everyone in our community in new ways through technology, thus making it easier for our residents to participate in the decision-making process at their leisure.
One of my main aspects of my platform when I ran for Mayor of Port Coquitam was to engage our residents and business. To do this we needed to think differently, we needed to use the web and other tools that are available. Over the past two years we have reached out through new mediums and we have moved our input opportunities from City Hall and into our community. I am proud of the work our Council has done as well as the leadership from our staff. Our residents and businesses have more opportunity to lead our community and make Port Coquitlam a wonderful place today and into the future.
