Thank you for electing me Mayor of our wonderful city of Port Coquitlam. I am honoured that this community has placed their trust in me and my family. We will work hard to prove to you that you made the right choice.
I grew up in Port Coquitlam, with a family who participated in sports and schools. They instilled in me the love, passion and commitment I have for Port Coquitlam. I know Erin, my wife, had the same great experiences growing up and shares my love for our community. Today, we enjoy teaching the same values and sharing the same small town experiences with our daughter, Madison.
I want to applaud all the candidates for stepping forward to running for civic politics. Congratulations to the six city councilors. I look forward to working with them and continuing the good governance Port Coquitlam is known for. I encourage the unsuccessful candidates to stay involved. Let us work together to make our community better.
I also want to thank the legion of volunteers who helped run an exciting and inclusive campaign. During the four month campaign, we had more than 120 volunteers help deliver flyers, knock on doors, make phone calls, place signs, host meetings and talk to friends and neighbours. THANK YOU for your support, prayers and hard work.
Finally, I want to thank my family, Erin and Madison. Erin is a wonderful, intelligent and committed partner who ran the campaign. She made sure the campaign plan was perfectly executed and that Madison and I were on time and on track, without ever letting us forget that family is number one.
